Implant-Supported Removable Denture

Implant-supported removable dentures (overdentures) are created using CAD/CAM technology and can be removed by the patient. Once the bar is implanted, the denture is constructed with internal attachments and engaged to the bar for esthetic and functional results.

An implant-supported prosthesis derives its entire support from dental implants. This type of restoration may be fixed (screw-retained) or removable (attachment-retained). Only a clinician can remove a screw-retained implant-supported overdenture, compared to a fixed-detachable prosthesis (attachment-retained) that can be removed by the patient or clinician. Fixed-detachable implant prosthetics sometimes need a mesostructure, such as a cast metal framework over the bar, to reinforce the acrylic resin.
