MDL USA and our international partners gathered a group of 570+ dentists from around the world to come together for the sake of continuing education in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. The event was undoubtably a great success for all who attended.
With the shift in the dental industry towards international integration, Doctors are finding global interactions to be increasingly beneficial to their practice. This demand is part of the reason why we started creating this biennial event. The World Dental Forum not only assembles world-renowned dentists, opinion leaders, and suppliers from all over the world we connect them.
We were so fortunate to have Dr. Howard Farran, Dr. Rhonda Savage and John Christensen lead the US delegation this year. Not only are they avant-garde, but they are incredibly passionate about what they do. That passion crossed over with every word they spoke. From tales of success to the future of dentistry, these inspirational leaders truly enlightened everyone that encountered them along the journey.
The World Dental Forum was broken up into four days.
Day 1: May 31st
The US and Netherland delegations were invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of
the largest lab in the world. We experienced the everyday production of Modern Dental
Laboratory. Watching the fabrication of crowns and bridges right in front of your eyes was
incredible. There was so much concentration and precision put into each restoration. On the
tour we also viewed the training facility, movie theater, yoga studio, karaoke bar, sports court
and recreation center.
After a day of touring the lab, the US delegation met up for an exciting evening. We took a boat tour of Victoria Harbour on a Chinese junk boat called the Aqua Luna. During the boat tour we watched the nightly light show. It was beautiful. After that we went to the Hullett House for dinner and presentations by our three US delegation leaders.
Day 2: June 1st
Several members of the US delegation joined us on an excursion of Hong Kong. We started
off by going to the Peak. Then we headed to the Stanley Market, where there was lots of
great shopping. From there we went to Aberdeen and rode a Sampan boat. The boat took us
sightseeing around the harbour. It was a great day full of adventure.
Day 3 & 4: June 2nd & 3rd
The conference was packed with many innovative lectures. The topics ranged from Digital
dentistry to Oral appliance therapy for TMD to Esthetic Dentistry. There was such an array
of talented professors and doctors. It was incredible to see doctors brought together from
different parts of the world, sharing and exchanging ideas to better their practices.
Modern Dental Laboratory USA is designated as an Approved PACE
Program Provider by the Academy
of General Dentistry. The formal
continuing education programs of
this program provider are accepted
by AGD for Fellowship, Mastership
and membership maintenance credit.
Approval does not imply acceptance
by a state or provincial board of
dentistry or AGD endorsements.
The current term of approval extends
from 8/1/2011 to 7/31/2013.
